REI price adjustment (14 days, same color and size)

Quick answer

REI’s price-adjustment page (confirmed September 2, 2026) says requests are honored within 14 days of the original purchase date, on the same product, color, and size. REI does not price match competitors. REI Outlet items (prices ending in $0.73) do not apply. Use the form on that help page or the store on the receipt.

REI Co-op titles the program a price adjustment and publishes the limits on rei.com/help/price-adjustment. As of September 2, 2026 that page says: if you find a purchased item at a lower price, you can request a price adjustment, with restrictions.

Confirm the live form before you ask — REI can change it. For the generic split, see price adjustment vs. price match.

What REI’s official page lists

  • Requests are honored within 14 days of the original purchase date.
  • Items must be the same product, color, and size.
  • REI Outlet items do not apply (prices ending in $0.73).
  • REI does not price match with competitors. Their price-matching help article is linked from that page — do not bring an REI competitor ad as proof.

The form asks how you purchased: REI retail store or REI Outlet, among other channels. Pick the one on the receipt. An Outlet ticket is usually already excluded by the $0.73 rule.

What usually gets a no

  • Day 15 or later, counted from purchase, unless the live page says otherwise.
  • A different colorway or size than the receipt.
  • An Outlet / $0.73 price treated as a “sale” on a full-price purchase — or the reverse.
  • A screenshot from another outdoor retailer.

Membership dividends and the one-year satisfaction guarantee are separate from this 14-day adjustment. Do not argue dividend math inside an adjustment ticket.

How to ask

Use REI’s price-adjustment form on that help page, or the store where you bought it, with the receipt and the live REI listing for the same product, color, and size.

REI form, chat, or store
I purchased [ITEM] (same product, color, and size) on [PURCHASE DATE] for $[PAID].

REI’s current price for that identical item is $[CURRENT]. Please process a price adjustment within 14 days of the original purchase date under REI’s current price-adjustment page. This is not a competitor price match. The item is not REI Outlet (not a $0.73 ending price).

What this page is not

  • Not a Co-op dividend or anniversary payout. Those are membership benefits. Do not mix dividend math into an adjustment ticket.
  • Not the one-year satisfaction guarantee. That is a return / replacement path, not a same-SKU price drop.
  • Not used gear or Garage sale inventory unless REI’s live form lists that purchase channel for your ticket. This page only quotes the full-price / current-merchandise adjustment article.

Compared with Nordstrom (tool, no day count we could quote) and DICK'S (Best Price Guarantee URL, policy page unread when we sourced it), REI is one of the few outdoor retailers that publishes the 14-day number on its own help page. Use that page, not a blog.

FAQ

Does REI offer a price adjustment after I buy?

Yes. Within 14 days of purchase, same product, color, and size, via REI’s price-adjustment help page. Confirm the live form.

Does REI match REI competitors?

No. The official page says they do not price match with competitors.

Are REI Outlet items eligible?

No. Outlet items — prices ending in $0.73 — do not apply.

Does a different color or size count?

No. The page requires the same product, color, and size.

Is a Co-op dividend a price adjustment?

No. Dividends and the satisfaction guarantee are separate. The 14-day adjustment is only for a later lower REI price on the same product, color, and size.

Pro prepares the kit. You submit REI’s form or ask in store. Auto-submit is not enabled. Refunds go from REI to you.
